Sarah Sills, leading the Contemporary Issues Discussion Group, will offer a crash course on the basics of what being transgender means, starting with the most basic info (e.g., what do the letters in LGBTQIA stand for?) This discussion is meant to be an introduction in anticipation of next week’s guest speaker.
Danielle Bouchard, Associate Professor of Women's and Gender Studies at UNCG, will lead a discussion to raise awareness about gender diversity and the challenges that people who do not identify as traditional cis-gendered face in states like North Carolina.
The Contemporary Issues Discussion Group explores local and national issues, gently examines the facets of their own beliefs and practices, and seeks out new concepts from others.
